Step-by-Step Preparation:
Soak the tapioca in cold water for 30 minutes. Then drain it.
In a saucepan, bring the 4 cups of water to a boil. When it boils, add the tapioca and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
The pearls will turn clear in about 10-15 minutes.
Drain off excess water if there is too much liquid left.
Add the whole milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk (optional), a pinch of salt, and vanilla. Cook over low heat, stirring until thickened and creamy (about 10-15 minutes more).
Serve hot or cold, according to your taste. It will thicken even more when chilled.
Tip:
You can add cinnamon, orange peel, or cloves for a special touch.
If you like it sweeter, add extra sugar to taste.
