Sometimes it doesn’t take much to conjure up a dish that simply delights everyone. This “Eat Me Stupid” salad is exactly what it’s all about – the name says it all! This quick cheese and ham salad is prepared in just 10 minutes and is incredibly creamy, hearty, and packed with flavor. It’s perfect for any barbecue, a no-fuss dinner, or simply as a snack between meals.
The combination of tender cooked ham, crunchy corn, aromatic Edam cheese, and creamy dressing not only adds variety to the kitchen but also fills you up – all without much effort. With its short preparation time and simple ingredients, it’s a true everyday favorite that’s guaranteed to stay in your repertoire!
Ingredients (for about 4 servings):
1 package of cooked ham (approx. 200 g), diced
1 can of corn (300 g, including juice)
1 package of Edam cheese (sliced, approx. 150–200 g)
50 g mayonnaise (also available as low-fat or mixed with yogurt)
1–2 tablespoons white wine vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
2 tablespoons sunflower or rapeseed oil
Fresh chives (finely chopped to taste)
Black pepper (freshly ground to taste)
Preparation:
Place the corn and liquid in a large bowl. The liquid provides a pleasant base flavor for the dressing.
Add the cooked ham and sliced ​​Edam cheese. Make sure to use sliced ​​cheese – grated cheese will be lost and won’t provide the desired bite.
Finely chop the chives and add them as well.
Prepare the dressing: Add the mayonnaise, vinegar, and oil directly to the bowl and mix thoroughly. Season with freshly ground pepper. Salt is usually not necessary, as the ham and cheese are already flavorful enough.

Let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. This allows the flavors to blend perfectly and the salad to become particularly flavorful.

Serving tip:
The salad tastes best chilled with fresh baguette or as a side dish to grilled meat. It’s perfect for summer evenings, picnics, or as a filling lunch at the office.
