Butter French Onion Rice

A delectable dish that combines the rich flavors of French onion soup with the comforting simplicity of rice, Butter French Onion Rice is a harmonious blend of caramelized onions, buttery goodness, and savory broth, garnished with fresh thyme.

Ingredients

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 large onions, thinly sliced

4 tablespoons butter

2 cups beef broth

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh thyme for garnish

In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
Add the thinly sliced onions to the skillet and cook until caramelized, stirring occasionally. This process may take around 20-30 minutes.
Once the onions are caramelized, remove them from the skillet and set them aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and rice. Cook the rice until it becomes slightly translucent.
Pour in the beef broth and season with salt and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is cooked and has absorbed the liquid.
Once the rice is cooked, stir in the caramelized onions and mix well.
Garnish with fresh thyme if desired before serving.
